My son is an avid wrestler. Since his sophomore year (he will be a senior) and a back injury, he has been complaining that he just doesn't feel right. We have been to various medical doctors and through every physical therapy imaginable. Could a chiropractor help, even though the injury happened more than a year ago?
I had a similar experience many years ago prior to knowing the benefits of chiropractic care. I had a skiing injury and in your words had been to various MDs and PT regimens. Eventually they were recommending surgery for a herniated disc. Fortunately I met someone who suggested an opinion from a Doctor of Chiropractic. After taking a history, doing an examination and taking X-rays, it was determined that I had a subluxation. A subluxation is when a bone loses its biomechanical integrity relative to the bone above and below it. This puts pressure on the nerve, and this causes pain and loss of proper function. After a regimen of care and home therapy that I was prescribed by the chiropractor, I was fine. Since then I have only had chiropractic care for most of my health needs, and it's been over 30 years!
To be honest with you, most of my patients say "I can't believe I didn't come sooner." Even though the injury was over a year ago the problem can probably be helped. Of course you would have had a quicker resolution had you come sooner."
