Bridgett's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
Trying once again to post an update for July
July 19, 2007
Lets try this again and see if I can actually get an entry posted
.
I apologize for it being so long once again in between my entries
, but I have had a really good excuse for the past almost month anyway. but for
the other near month, I have nothing to claim but just life in general with work, ball
and end of school, it has been crazy.
The end of June I went on a Mission Trip with our church youth group to Lakeshore, Mississippi to help rebuild homes from Hurricane Katrina. Anyway, I was gone for a little over a week there with no computer, the I came back with a thumb injury (more in my Moms's diary on that) and have not been able to use my right hand much and now still can't use my right thumb, but am adapting pretty good to be able to type.
I did however type up a short entry about Joshua last week and hit the button
to post it,but it disappeared and just a blank diary screen came up, so the entry
was lost.
Right now Joshua is on a Church Youth Group Retreat.
They left yesterday morning and drove down in a Charter bus, to Myrtle Beach,
to a Christian Youth Retreat Center, and joined up with two other Youth groups
from there in South Carolina,. One of them is where our Youth Minister came from,
so he knows them well also and hopefully it all goes great. I really have some high hopes for Joshua and what he gets out of this trip. You noticed I wrote hopes. I have also done
some praying about it also, so come Sunday I guess we will find out all the
and see what comes of it.
I have defiantly seen a bit of Maturity develop in Joshua over the last month and a half. He is finally starting to take on the role of a more responsible 16 year old and I believe the lying has come to a bit of a halt or at least is occurring less and less it seems. For the first time since I remarried I am working during the summer, only part time a few half days, but Joshua has been left in charge of his little sister, along with his younger brother, the two of them get to manage the house for a couple hrs while I am at work and their littlest brother is at preschool.
I honestly think that Joshua getting to tell his bio-father just how he felt and what he thought of
him, was what Joshua needed to do for a very long time
. For years Joshua has been carrying around much anger and was so aggravated
by the whole situation with his father, that is caused a lot of the problems we
have had with him. The day back in December Joshua talked with his father, after
getting off the phone, Joshua told me he felt like a weight had been lifted off
of his shoulders. Well, the other day I was talking to my Mom/Joshua's Grandma
(she came to help out the week I was gone on the Mission trip) and she said she
had a pretty good talk with Joshua while she was here last time. She said Joshua
had told her that he is much happier since he got to tell his father how and what
he thought of him. For years Joshua really wanted to tell his father those things,
but it was I guess, the events that occurred in Nov/Dec. this past year, due to
Joshua's fathers lack of responsibility for his actions, that finally made Joshua
feel strong enough to confront him. I don't think the conversation still would
have taken place had it been in person, but the fact that is was vocal and ear
to ear, made it good enough.
Well, I think I'm going to close for now, I really need to get my other diaries updated and I don't know how much longer my thumb can stand to be held down, so I will continue on in my next entry about Joshua and how the end of school went.
Until Next Time................
God bless,
Bridgett and Joshua
