Paintball and more Paintball........

June 27, 2006

Joshua has paint ball on the brain this summer. Yes, paint ball and television seem to be Joshua's whole existence this summer. Oh and a little bit of baseball, shall I not forget that he does belong to a baseball team this summer also, but only for a few more days.

The baseball season is almost over so what will Joshua do with all his time? So far this summer he has done nothing but sleep, go to a few baseball practices, play several games (when they get to have games and they aren't cancelled due to all the rain we have been having), then there is paint ball next on his list of activities and then once supplies end, its television or playstation on his agenda.

Joshua is such a loner,a Mr. Anti-social.for the most part. He is one lazy kid and it just irritates me to the core. Well, that is if it is something I want him to do or something he needs to do or should or expected to do around the house, as far as helping out or cleaning his room. If anyone mentions the words Paint ball, then Joshua is quick to change his clothes and head out the door. The problem with that is the supplies are limited, and so is his money to replenish those supplies. It sure would be nice if Joshua would be so quick to do what we ask of him so quickly!

It isn't that we do not try to make Joshua do as he is supposed to, that isn't the case at all. It gets to a point you can only do so much with a 15 yr old as far as discipline goes. We have tried taking away just about every privilege he has, and that didn't work. When we don't allow him to do anything Joshua just goes to his room and sleeps all day. So, that was the reason for the decision to allow him to play baseball, we figured it would be good for him to get to do the one sport he totally loves and at least he would get some exercise in the process. It is kind of a heck if you do and heck if you don't situation with Joshua

Over the years we have tried just about anything and everything any of the counselors, Doctors or Psychologists have recommended to do with Joshua.  We have taken away possessions, we have taken away privileges, and nothing seems to work. Taking away things just makes Joshua more angry, upset and depressed, so there you have another problem on your hands. It is just a no win situation no matter what we do or don't do.

Until Next Time......
