I Want to Know How it Ends!
August 6, 2006
Before we took a short, two week break for school, Ashley was assigned a narrative paragraph assignment. Actually, she was to write two or three narrative paragraphs. Now, what I want to know is: Where is the rest of the story? I think she did great. What do you think?
Alec slowly approached the gate that led into the Old Edgewater Property. Drat those boys and their stupid dares, she thought. I never should have let them come here. The Frankburn boys had dared each other to climb the fence bordering the Edgewater property and head towards the woods in search of the "missing village," the village that no one is even sure ever existed. That was on Saturday, three days ago; it now was Tuesday and the police have been involved in the search parties since late Sunday. They said they had searched the Edgewater property thoroughly, but Alec had her doubts.
Reaching the gate she pulled herself up to the top then dropped down to the other side, shuddering as she slowly looked around. All of this is suppose to be mine, she thought, but I don't want it. I don't want any of it at all. Shuddering again she focused her mind on the reason she came. Advancing in the direction the boys most likely took, she tried to force all the horror stories people liked to tell about this place out of her mind. It was bad enough knowing the real story of this place, and the reason why it had been under pol.ice investigation for years.*
When I finished reading this I wanted to know more about the Edgewater Property, the rumours, the whole darn thing. I think she did an awesome job!
As for what she has been up to lately, the answer is spring cleaning. Her and I have been organizing the house one thing at a time and getting rid of a bunch of stuff we don't use and don't have room for. We had already gone through the clothes around Christmas and the videos around March, but we felt a need to speed things up a bit. We've been going through toys, stuffed animals, and books as well as toiletries and accessories.
She helped me the last two weeks to take Abby in the pool for her swimming lessons, too. She enjoyed it because she wants to be an instructor next year, because she loves playing with the little ones, and because she finds three of the swim instructors to be very handsome. She even put on make-up every day after I told her that, now that she was going to be a sophomore, she could wear any make-up she chose if she wore it in a reasonable manner.
Well, I have several diaries to update and I need to get back to organizing my house so I'll leave off here for now.
Best wishes,
Khy
