Being Media Savvy is Hot
Most advertisements rely on the idea that if they can make a consumer feel "bad" about themselves by indicating that they lack something good looks, a sweet smell, whiter laundry that person will try to feel better by buying it. Well, don't buy into that. Although it may come as no surprise that you and your teen are a popular target for advertisers, recent studies have shown that advertisers are now targeting children as young as 6 months to try and establish brand loyalty.
While there's nothing wrong with advertisements, per se, what is wrong is to just blindly watch them without any perspective. These resources will help you understand where advertisers are coming from and how to avoid the more negative subliminal messages. You can then pass that on to your teens and even to your babies.
